Cheshire & North Wales Property Forum launches
Reviving Cheshire was at the forefront of discussions at the inaugural Cheshire & North Wales Property Forum attended by more than 70 guests. The event provided a much needed opportunity for those in the property sector to highlight current developments and plans, with discussions centred around the need for more interaction between the council and the private sector.
Held at Pioneer House in Ellesmere Port, the Forum was jointly sponsored by Marketing PRojects who work closely with Chester & District Housing Trust and property clients around the UK.
Jane Harrad-Roberts, Managing Director of Marketing PRojects said: “We are very pleased to be involved in the organisation and proud to sponsor the first Cheshire Property Forum. It is finally giving a platform for the property sector to meet and discuss a range of issues that affect us all in Cheshire and I believe the success of the event is leading to plans for future forums.”
A series of round-tables on offices, distribution, retail and social housing and a final panel discussion sparked some heated debates and drew some worthwhile conclusions for ways forward.
During the event a plan was announced by Leader of Cheshire West & Chester Council, Cllr Mike Jones to raise £200 million for the improvement of roads and sports facilities in the borough by selling surplus property assets such as farmland and retail units, should the scheme be approved in the summer.
The need to develop Chester as a strong retail base was seen as being key to the fortunes of the city, but queries were raised regarding the troubled Northgate scheme, its ability to rejuvenate Chester and the effect it would have on existing retail.
