Watch out James Bond
The name could be Bond, James Bond for English Language School student Rainer Kunz, who won a replica of the actual watch worn by Chester born super-spy Daniel Craig in the new Quantum of Solace film. Rainer won the bullet-proof Omega Seamaster watch which was donated by Waltons of Chester at the glittering black-tie advance screening of Quantum of Solace in the city on Thursday October 30.
The winning card had been attached by MI6 agents from Waltons the Jewellers underneath one of the 310 seats at Cineworld, off Sealand Road. Before the screening of Quantum of Solace, the guests were asked to look under their seats. The winner, a student in the City, returns the exclusive watch to its homeland in Switzerland.
Richard Hogben, general manager of Waltons of Chester, said:
“We are delighted we could help the charity RNLI and the sense of occasion by providing this fantastic watch to mark such a memorable event in Chester.”
The Omega Seamaster is made of stainless steel, is bullet-proof, water resistant to 300m and worth more than £2,000. It has become synonymous with Bond movies.
Rainer Kunz, who returns to Switzerland to be an apprentice banker with UBS said:
“I was very surprised and pleased to win the watch and be presented with the watch which will be a great memory of my time in Chester. Five of us, visiting Chester to improve our English, booked to see the film as we are all big Bond fans. It was a fantastic event and the film, the after-show party at Cruise and winning the watch made it a very special time here in the UK. Thank you so much to Waltons of Chester.”

Other visitors travelling to the city specifically for the screening travelled from as far a field as Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Berkshire. The screening in Chester was the first time outside London Quantum of Solace had been shown. It opens in Switzerland on November 5th (French version) 6th (German) and 7th (Italian). Japan has to wait until January.
