Sing, Choirs of Angels!
The Queen"s School Chamber Choir under their conductor Rebecca O"Keefe gave an outstanding performance at an evening of Christmas music and readings to raise funds for the NSPCC. Held by kind permission of their Graces the Duke and Duchess of Westminster at Eaton Chapel, the evening also marked the world premiere of “Gloria” by Jeanette Healey, a piece written especially for Queen"s Chamber Choir.
Mrs Healey, who also teaches part-time at Queen"s, is a respected composer and has already created another piece for the school"s Chamber Choir. Alison Dodd, chairman of Frodsham district of the NSPCC, said:
“We are very grateful for the support of The Queen”s School. In the 12 days of Christmas this year the NSPCC Helpline expects to receive over 2,500 calls from people who are concerned about a child"s safety. On top of this ChildLine, now part of NSPCC, expects to counsel nearly 5,000 children across the UK over the Christmas period. Thanks to The Queen"s School, we raised nearly £1,000 to support this vital service."
