Queen's girls bite into the Big Apple
Year 12 girls from The Queen’s School in Chester started 2012 off in style with a trip to the ‘Big Apple’ over the holidays.
19 girls from the school spent 4 days in New York visiting a number of the city’s well known landmarks, such as the Empire State Building and St. Paul’s Cathedral.The girls also visited Ground Zero where they paid their respects and visited the newly opened museum, as well as seeing the new building work taking place there. Bus tours around the city included a night tour along Fifth Avenue and past the Rockafeller Centre. The group even managed to fit in a spot of shopping, visiting renowned stores such as Bloomingdales and Macy’s where they were able to pick up some pre-January sales bargains.
Kara Chin, 17 from Chester, who studies Art A Level at the school said:
“The highlight for me was visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art where we had the chance to view some really impressive pieces.”
16-year-old Debbie Overton from Ellesmere Port added:
“New York is such an amazing city to visit any way, but going with your classmates makes it so much better.”
The trip was a mixture of education and leisure, allowing the girls to experience a new culture and visit famous landmarks as well as having the opportunity to enjoy New York at Christmas.
