Queen's girl is a 'Wicked' writer
A 13-year-old girl from Chester has won a national writing competition it was announced in London last week.
Louisa Cowell, who is a pupil at The Queen’s School, was shortlisted along with 99 other competitors aged five to 25 who hoped to win the Wicked Young Writers competition before being named the winner of the 11-13 category.
Louisa was at school when she was announced the winner of the competition at the Apollo Theatre in London (home to the renowned musical Wicked), but said she didn’t mind finding out in her Physics lesson, adding:
“My story took quite a long time to write. I wrote it the first time, then went back to it and changed it all around, then changed it all around again, and so on, but I was really pleased with what I sent off.” She continued: “I was so happy to find out I’d won the competition. I never expected to so it was a massive surprise.”
“Louisa’s entry was direct, tender and attentive to the world.”
Louisa has won four tickets to see the award winning musical Wicked with the chance to meet cast members after, along with a 50 book voucher and a writing masterclass.
