Parents give a lift to school
After two years of energetic fund-raising, parents at The Queen’s School have presented the school with the keys to a new minibus. As soon as the Queen’s School Parents’ Association had decided on the target of providing the pupils with additional transport, a committee of parents began planning their fund-raising activities.
Events organised included garden parties, fashion shows and Christmas markets, not to mention a glittering ball at the Grosvenor hotel, until the Parents’ Association finally reached their ambitious target. The minibus keys were presented to headmistress Mrs Catherine Buckley at the association’s annual general meeting.
Mrs Alison Moore, the outgoing Chair of the Queen’s School Parents’ Association said:
“We are really pleased to be able to hand over the keys to the new minibus. It has been specially painted in the school’s livery of burgundy and gold and we think it looks wonderful.”
Headmistress Mrs Catherine Buckley thanked the QSPA, parents and friends of the school who had made the purchase possible. She added:
“I know that the minibus will be very much appreciated by the girls who use it for educational visits and for travelling to sports fixtures. Our current bus is used quite heavily and having this new one will make a big difference. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of parents and friends of the school.”
The minibus itself is a 15 seat Ford Transit specially prepared by Evans Halshaw of Chester for The Queen’s School.
