European Success for Queen's and Country
Queen’s girl Jenny Moore has once again successfully represented England in an overseas badminton tournament, this time returning with two silver medals under her belt.
16-year-old Jenny Moore from Chester was selected to represent England in the Under 17’s European Badminton Championship in Caldas da Rainhas, Portugal, where she competed in both the individual doubles events and in the team doubles events where she represented England.
The nine day championship saw Jenny reach the final in both the individual and team tournaments, coming up against tournament favourites, Denmark, in the team final and the number one seeds, Russia, in the individual final. Both matches were extremely close and saw Jenny and her partner, Victoria Williams from Hampshire, gain silver medals for each.
Jenny said:
“I worked really hard and it was a great feeling to get a medal and be on the podium as one of the best in Europe.”
Mrs Chris Moore, Head of PE Department said:
“Jenny has now reached a new level in her badminton, she is focussed and hardworking. She thoroughly deserves this medal in her international career.”
Badminton has been an important part of Jenny’s life for many years now, involving tournaments most weekends and testing training sessions four times a week in Manchester.
