Spooky World decreases Anti-Social Behaviour
Last year, more than 25,000 visitors attended Spooky World, among them twenty young people on a “Halloween Trip” organised by Police Officers in Merseyside. The aim of the evening was to give underprivileged children a chance to be involved but a significant further benefit was a reduction in anti-social behaviour in the Liverpool area as a direct result of the trip. This year the same effect was seen both in Liverpool and in Stockton Heath.
The results in Liverpool last year were so outstanding that on the evening of the trip the police received NO calls for anti-social behaviour in their dedicated area. Police officers were surprised because on previous years the 30th October had been the busiest night for calls reporting anti-social behaviour.
This year, Police from Stockton Heath received NO calls on Halloween for anti-social behaviour and visited Spooky World to check the attraction out for themselves.
Laura Rowden and Lynsey Crowder Police Community Support Officers from Admiral Street Police Station in Toxteth on behalf of Merseyside Police said in a letter;
“We would like to express how fantastic the Spooky World attraction was. The group of children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were completely scared out of their wits. The attraction was extremely well organised and brilliantly acted out, even the staff were on their toes. The whole experience was fantastic, the location, the attractions and the actors all made the evening one of kind and extremely enjoyable so much that we have decided to return again this year with double the amount of children.”
