Ghostly goings on around the North West
A father and son farming team are taking Halloween on tour this year. David and Joseph Fryer of Apple Jack"s Farm, will be visiting North West towns and cities with their unique blend of horror and hay, Spooky World.
Spooky World is the UK"s only dedicated Halloween theme park run by Apple Jack"s Farm, Stretton Warrington, described as “Fun by Day & Scary at Night”.
The most popular attraction is the Haunted Hayride. Visitors climb aboard the Spooky World wagon and are taken on a chilling ride around the Forbidden Forest. Live actors and special effects make this an intense experience for teenagers and adults.
Families with children are encouraged to come during the day to enjoy a variety of activities including less frightening versions of the night time attractions. To promote this year"s Halloween, Spooky World will be taking to the roads with some of its ghoulish residents in the Haunted Hayride wagon. Expect to see spooky happenings in locations including Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, Chester and Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port.
Apple Jack"s Farm, Stretton, Warrington, created Spooky World in 2006. The farm first branched into entertainment in 2003, with the opening of the Amazing Maize Maze. The aim of Apple Jack"s co-founder, David Fryer was “to expand on how friends enjoyed the farm and create something for all”. The giant crop maze proved very popular with the general public and with the addition of Spooky World, attendance has grown dramatically: from 9,000 visitors in 2003, to 47,500 last year. The Amazing Maize Maze has been widely featured in the media, including BBC and ITV appearances.
David Fryer, co-founder of Apple Jack"s Farm, said:
“Halloween is great fun but only lasts for one night then it”s over. Spooky World let"s you celebrate the festival for longer. In America, Halloween is a much bigger event; we"re bringing the same enthusiasm but with a British style. Spooky World attracts all ages, with family orientated fun in the day and thrills for teenagers and adults at night. It"s a great alternative if you"re not into Trick or Treating and it runs from 18th October to 5th November so if Halloween and Bonfire night don"t fit into your schedule you don"t have to miss out."
