Village pub supports local national charity
Recently refurbished pub the Ring O" Bells, located in the heart of the village of Christleton, has pledged support for national charity Children Today, also based in the village.
Since the pub re-opened at the end of August, 25 pence from each sale of a selected meal on the pub"s exciting new menu has being donated to the charity. This will continue over the next 12 months and it is anticipated that funds raised over this period will purchase a piece of specialised equipment for a disabled child living locally.
Co-owner of the Ring O" Bells, local entrepreneur Ian Wade, approached the charity to offer his support, and staff at Children Today were only too delighted to accept his generous offer.
Children Today provides grants for vital, life-changing equipment for disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 years. Head of Fundraising, Ruth Thompson, says:
“We believe that the provision of specialised equipment for young people with disabilities has a direct and immediate impact on their quality of life and independence and is vital in helping them to overcome obstacles to live a life of greater freedom.
We were delighted when the Ring O" Bells pledged their support for the charity. In addition to receiving donations from an item on the menu, we are working closely with the pub to plan other fundraising events over the coming months. All donations received will help us fund equipment for disabled children living locally."

Children Today
• Relying entirely on voluntary donations, Children Today provides grants to buy specialised equipment such as individually adapted electric wheelchairs, walking aids, trikes, specially designed educational toys, adapted car seats, a wide range of communication aids, lifting and posturepaedic sleep equipment. The amount of each grant can vary greatly and Children Today aims to spend funds in the areas in which they are raised.
• Children Today"s vision is that all children and young people under 25 years of age with disabilities, living in the UK, will have the equipment, adaptation or service that aids their daily living, improves independence and quality of life and enables them to achieve their potential.
• There are 390,000 disabled people under the age of 16 in the UK with 100,000 of them having more than one disability. There is no statutory right for young people with disabilities to be provided with the equipment they need by the Government or the NHS.
