China to Christleton for a day
A VILLAGE PUB in Christleton, Chester became a corner of mainland China when it was transformed to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, Chinese New Year 2011.
The Ring O’Bells, landmark of the award winning village, entertained visitors with a Chinese Dragon, Origami demonstrations, face mask painting, fireworks and a special Chinese gourmet meal.
The menu was developed especially for The Ring O’Bells and featured Crispy Duck which the children loved, homemade sauces, and ingredients like king scallops, sea bass and tofu noodles.
Ian Wade, owner of Modern British Taverns which runs The Ring O’Bells, said:
“We wanted to bring a little bit of China and the celebrations there to the residents and visitors to Christleton for Chinese New Year. Our Sous Chef Simon, was able to cook up a special Chinese menu with key ingredients sourced from Chinatown in Liverpool and everyone had a brilliant time. Preparations start for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day now.”
