Burger sales bring home the bacon for Charity
BURGER sales have contributed to a village pub raising nearly £1,000 for a Chester Charity.
The donation has hit the right note with the village of Christleton, with the Ring O’ Bells raising £830 for Children Today, also based in the village.
Over the past 12 months, owner of the pub Ian Wade and his team of staff held a number of events to fundraise for Children Today. Money raised included proceeds from the sale of the pub’s best selling dish “The Bells Steak Burger” on the pub’s menu, a jewellery fair, cake sale, summer barbecue and New Year party.
Ian Wade said: “I would like to thank the whole team at the Ring O’Bells and patrons of the pub for their efforts in supporting this very worthwhile cause. Since the pub re-opened in August last year, 25 pence from the sale of each burger has been donated to charity. The money raised will help Children Today fund specialised equipment for disabled children living locally.”
Head of Fundraising for Children Today, Ruth Thompson, added: "We were delighted when the Ring O’ Bells pledged their support for the charity, and I am thrilled to receive their donation. Ian has pledged his continued support for Children Today, and I look forward to working with staff at the pub over the next 12 months.
“We believe that the provision of specialised equipment for young people with disabilities has a direct and immediate impact on their quality of life and independence and is vital in helping them to overcome obstacles to live a life of greater freedom.”
