A feast for the eyes
A budding young artist has won a competition that will give art critics food for thought. Jessica Renner, from Waverton has had her design picked to feature on the Children"s Menu at The Ring O" Bells, Christleton. Jessica is only 9 years old but already has the hunger for success. She competed with more than 100 fellow pupils at Christleton Primary school to win.
Jessica, who is in Year 5, said:
"I"m very happy I won. I drew different types of food to make the letters on the menu and used some pastels I got for my birthday. I"d like to be an artist when I grow up."
Ian Wade, co-owner of Modern British Taverns, said:
“A big well done to Jessica. We received a lot of great entries but everyone agreed that Jessica”s just stood out. Her design has some really vibrant colours and will look fantastic on our menus. Since we took over pub we"ve had loads of support from the locals and the response to this competition has been really encouraging. Wine tasting evenings and coffee mornings have also been a hit. We"ve got some plans in store to beat the post-holiday blues which we"ll be revealing soon."
