New Year, New Novus for City Professionals
Chester networking group Novus Young Professionals has started the New Year by announcing their next meeting on February 9th and expanding horizons nationally.
Novus is ten years old during 2012 and co-founder Jane Harrad-Roberts has seen many networking organisations come and go in the city in that time. She said;
“They all meet different needs in terms of their focus, venues, timing, formality and costs. Novus is a success because it doesn’t meet too regularly, varies the venues and timings and has great speakers to add a business benefit. We also have an aide memoir of attendees, no membership fees and are very informal and friendly.” She added; “Novus is a great intro for nervous networkers to make great intros! We can’t be ageist any more but we were conceived from the remains of Chester Young Professionals and now it’s our turn to be reborn.” She continued;
“The Mussel Club is a really successful organisation based in the North East with a very similar ethos to Novus and wanted to expand in the North West. Rather than create yet another networking group to distract from the day job, I believe we are better in combination, sitting quite comfortably between all the various networking groups in and around the City and North West. That’s why we’ve joined forces.”
The next event is on Thursday, February 9th at the Ring O’Bells, Christleton 5.30pm. for 6pm. Until 8pm. With plenty of parking and will be an opportunity to ‘Meet the Press’ with a pre-Valentine twist. Attendees will include press representatives from Cheshire Life, EN Magazine, Trinity Mirror and NWN Media. Places are £20 bookable on the Mussel Club web site at www.themusselclub.com This includes a glass of wine, canapés and a donation to Children Today and the NSPCC through the NSPCC Chester Business Board of which Jane is a member.

Notes to editors:
Novus was conceived to provide a channel for young people to experience the benefits of building and developing networking skills. The networking group held its inaugural event in November 2002. The inspiration for Novus came from a realization that although there were plenty of organisations aimed at networking already present in Chester, there was a distinct lack of ‘young’ professionals attending. Novus helps those who are at the beginning of their professional careers, in need of support and valuable contacts, to help ‘fast forward’ their careers.
Novus also enables young professionals to hear from invited guests with successful careers and learn from their business experiences and expertise. This both inspires and enables their own personal and business development.
Most importantly, Novus concentrates on making any event relaxed and sociable where young professionals can chill out and be themselves.
Membership of Novus is limited to 500 and is free. However, it is by recommendation and referral only. Each event is designed by organisers Marketing PRojects to break even. Speakers are leading luminaries from business who generously share secrets of their success with Novus.
The previous Novus event was held at HQ ABode with an insight into life at Westminster from the City of Chester MP Stephen Mosley as guest speaker.
