Hundreds flock to Just Another Fashion Show...
CHESTER’S most glamorous night of the year so far, Just Another Fashion Show, has been hailed as a “huge success” by organisers.
Chester Racecourse’s Pavilion room was transformed for Utility Promotions’, Just Another Fashion Show charity event, in aid of Stepping Stones Nigeria and Just Care, Uganda.
As more than 500 people packed the venue, DJ Paul Tomlinson played out an eclectic rock set whilst fashion revellers enjoyed the sunshine in the outdoor bar area, mused through the vintage stalls and jewellery designs on offer and had their photographs taken by an Alice In Wonderland themed cake, designed and donated by Meg Roberts.
The night was opened by comedy duo Timmy Magic and Mr Pink and a charity raffle saw guests walk away with prizes such as Dior makeovers, a meal at the Blackhouse Grill and £50 bar tabs.
Models strutted their stuff on the grass covered catwalk to music mixed by Chester DJ Daryl Thomas of the DJ Academy at Global Grooves, Brook Street, in designs from Chester’s Zara store, Liverpool’s Flatley designs, vintage emporiums, Cow Manchester and Pop Boutique, as well as high end vintage fashions from Aliz Vintage in Boughton. The look was finished off by a mixture of designer sunglasses from David Clulow, at Cheshire Oaks.
Organisers Laura Jones and Alex Dooley, of Utility Promotions, hailed the event as a “storming success”.
Alex said:
“We couldn’t have asked for the night to have gone any better. We are still counting the proceeds from the night and fingers crossed there will be more donations to come from the proceeds from Chester Events photographs as well as some match funding that we hope will also come through. There is sure to be a big celebration with Stepping Stones Nigeria and Just Care as soon as we find out the total.”
Laura added: “Thank you to everyone who helped to organise and took part in the event and to our 500 plus guests for attending. We could not have done it without you.”
The show, which displayed some of the most up-to-the-minute looks from retailers from around the region, was brought to a close by three special costumes designed by local talent, Louise O’Mahoney.
A burlesque red costume was dressed with a towering blonde afro wig specially coiffed by Chester-based James Whyte of Soul Hair – 2009s hairdresser of the year. The stand out costume was followed by two more wonderful creations including a mermaid inspired outfit complete with sea shells, pearls and spikes.
Organisers then took to the stage along with models and the Soul Hair team to rapturous applause from the audience before Chester-based folk rock bank The Shy and the Fight, closed the show.
Party-goers carried on the fun into the early hours at an exclusive after-party at Politic North on Watergate Row, Chester on two floors featuring DJ sets from Adam Cartwright, Daryl Thomas, Paul Tomlinson and Andrew Probyn.
