Catering expert Cucina has sold more than 1,000 quality, family-sized Xmas puddings to pupils, parents and staff for their Christmas dinners.
Cucina, which serves fresh food to more than 25,000 pupils at 30 contracts up and down the country, has been selling the Christmas puddings, which are made with sultanas, raisins, currants, apple and carrots and are accompanied with homemade Brandy butter.
Cucina’s top chefs have developed the recipe which has been sold at all of Cucina’s restaurants. Cucina has also developed sloe Gin to kick-start Christmas Day, which is available for staff and parents.
Cucina Executive Head Chef Ian Morgan said:
“The Christmas puddings have sold well and have been on the menu at Christmas parties over the last few weeks at our restaurants. We have also given the Christmas puds and Gin to our clients and suppliers as gifts. The sloe Gin has been developed from berries picked over a year ago; a shot of sloe gin mixes well with Champagne to make a great cocktail and will get everyone’s Christmas Day off to a merry start!”
Everything is made from scratch in Cucina’s kitchens, from homemade breads, fresh soups, homemade yoghurts, sandwiches and salads to fresh pizzas baked in professional pizza ovens. Cucina even makes their own tomato ketchup and mango chutney.
Cucina’s professional and innovative approach includes appointing a Head Chef to oversee each site and offering an educational food service which links the classroom to the kitchen. The new Cucina restaurants include theatre and a new service pod at The Basildon Academy, where breakfast and after school meals can be bought in addition to the Cucina Menu.
