Cucina wins six new contracts to grow sales
The summer holidays have been far from all sun, sea and sand for catering experts at Cucina, who have spent their summer vacation preparing for six new academy contracts, where they have seen sale increase dramatically already.
The catering team’s fresh thinking and fresh food has won over decision makers at Highdown School and Sixth Form in Reading, Stockley Academy in Middlesex, Leigh Technology Academy in Dartford and Longfields Academy, Wilmington Academy, and special school Milestone Academy all in Kent, giving Cucina the task of pleasing almost 7,000 new customers.
Furthermore the catering expert has announced their latest range of healthy menus, which are now available throughout all of their 36 restaurants across England. They include tricolore salad with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and olives and chocolate & chilli brownies, as well as a new range of designer pizzas and focaccia containing hidden courgettes and carrots. Cucina are also taking produce from the school gardens at certain schools, using it to make soups and encourage horticulture on the curriculum.
Steve Quinn, Managing Director of Cucina, said;
“It’s great to have happy clients who can see sales shooting up already. Cucina’s new menus are tasty, fun and fresh and are proving successful across our restaurants. Our ‘stealthy eating’ approach has helped us more than double the uptake of school dinners in our restaurants across England. It has also enabled our partner schools to significantly reduce their catering costs.” He added; “At Highdown we are adopting a ‘seeds to plate’ philosophy for the kitchens, growing vegetables in the Victorian Walled Garden there. Wilmington has its own garden too and, in line with the horticulture curriculum there, we are using ‘academy grown’ butternut squashes, courgettes and other vegetables in the soup. We have tripled takings there and at Longfields. Student spends have quadrupled in the restaurant.”
Cucina have already made significant impacts at their six new schools and academies, where they have at least tripled uptake in all cases, and increased takings on a good day at one school from £350 to £2,200 per day, with latest company accounts showing a turnover of £4.8 million.
Cucina Restaurants Ltd. serves fresh food to 50,000 pupils at 36 contracts up and down the country and is committed to providing quality, healthy meals at all schools. The School Food Trust has just chosen a case study about how it does this for its web site.
