Coxon Cookery Demos on Easter Day
A real life Indiana Jones of the culinary world takes to the Chester celebrity kitchen stage to give cookery demonstrations at this year’s Taste Festival.
Alan Coxon, who delighted the audience at last year’s Festival, is back by popular demand to entertain the crowds at the Taste Festival at Chester Racecourse this Easter. Alan’s expertise and charisma saw him positioned amongst the top 10 TV chefs in the world in a recent BBC viewer poll across 100 countries.
Alan traces the archaeology of food and has created his own Historic Food range, including Historic Vinaigres which explore tastes and flavours that once adorned the tables of Roman Emperors, the Ancient Greeks and Medieval Knights.
Stephen Wundke, Chairman of the Chester Food and Drink Festival, said:
“It is a measure of how prestigious the Festival has become that we can attract so many world-class chefs and we are delighted that a chef of Alan Coxon’s stature will once again be gracing the Chester stage, imparting his expertise and sense of fun to the knowledgeable Chester audience. We have more celebrity chefs than ever before at this year’s Festival, so there really are more reasons than ever to come to the Festival and to stay in Chester over Easter.”
Alan Coxon, who will give cookery demonstrations on Sunday April 12, added:
“I am looking forward to the Chester Food and Drink Festival, which I know is fast becoming one of the biggest Food and Drink events in the UK. Chester is a very special place where I have always received a warm welcome; I have scoured the earth and travelled back in time to locate the most exciting and fun recipes and can’t wait to show the audience at the Festival what I have found.”
In the lead up to the Food and Drink Festival, there are events in and around the city, including Alice in Wonderland, the Great Easter Egg Hunt and a Beer Festival at Boughton Hall Cricket Club from April 9 to 11. The popular Cocktail Competition will also return at new venue Cruise nightclub, St. John Street, Chester, on April 7, where the city’s finest bartenders will shake up the crowd with smooth talking and strong liqueurs.
There will be more than 80 food producers at the Taste Festival and cooking demonstrations featuring Simon Rimmer on Saturday April 11 and Andrew Nutter on Monday April 13. Tickets are £6 for adults and children under 12 are free. Parking is also free for all visitors to the event at the Racecourse.
