Alan Coxon's Sunday Recipes

Alan Coxon, who was voted among the top 10 TV chefs of the World, in a BBC poll across 100 countries, gave the final cookery demonstration of Sunday. Alan asked two members of the audience to assist him in making lamb stir fry, Panna cotta with liquorice and ginger shards of sugar work (recipe from Saturday), dark chocolate fondant served with cherries flamed in brandy and a chocolate coffee pot.

Quintet of celebrity chefs stir up the 2nd day crowd on Easter Day

A packed demonstration area of Chester Racecourse, following record crowds on the first day of the Festival this year, saw a star turn from celebrity chef, Lotte Duncan on Easter Day.

Hard Cheese beats Alex James entrants

An English hard cheese was named top cheese at this year’s Chester Food and Drink Festival. Doddington’s cheese beat off competition from eight other finalists, including entrants from Little Wallop cheese producer Alex James of Blur.

Junior Chefs are Stars of the Future

The winners of The Junior Chef Competition have been announced in front of the crowds at the main stage of The Chester Food & Drink Festival, held at Chester Racecourse. More than 400 hundred children, aged between 6 and 16, submitted their recipes into the competition sponsored by Cheshire County Council.

Six butchers whose sausages have been selected for the Final of the sausage competition at this year’s Chester Food and Drink Festival are cooking up their sausages on the Saturday before the main event. The public can enjoy a free trial of the Finalist sausages and decide what the best sausages are in terms of presentation, texture and most importantly taste by visiting the six butchers below on Saturday March 15th.

Cheese rolling Cheshire style wins again: Competition Crumbles for record fifth year

After a hardened battle between the big cheeses a team of Made in Cheshire cheese high-rollers narrowly beat rivals Cheshire Cheesemakers, who were rolling down the cobbles of Bridge Street, Chester for the first time this year. Cheshire negotiated the obstacle course of farm-yard animals and kept their cool, their title and the cup to roll their way into the record books to launch the seventh Chester Food and Drink Festival, to be held over the Easter weekend.

Leaders unite to ignite the 2008 Food & Drink Festival

Celebrities such as ITV newsreader Lucy Meacock will join captains of industry and Council leaders to ignite this year’s annual Chester Cheese Rolling competition on Tuesday February 26 with a new event. More than 40 of Chester and Cheshire’s leading decision makers will carry a wheel of Cheshire cheese around the Chester Walls and deliver it to the starting gate in Bridge Street.

Finalists announced in Best Banger competition

The best of Chester and Cheshire’s sausages have been selected to enter the final of The Chester Food & Drink Festival Sausage Competition. Carole Faulkner of The Cheese Shop was Chairman of the eight strong judging a panel, including chef Martin Bouchier who flew in from his restaurant in Andalucia, Spain for the tasting. More than 100 sausages were entered, each butcher provided his bestseller and a new recipe designed exclusively for the competition.

Trio of TV Super-chefs announced for 2008

This year’s Chester Food & Drink Festival promises an even more impressive line up of celebrity chefs for visitors to the new Chester Racecourse venue over Easter. Organisers have listened to the public who voted for more chefs at this year’s event and three celebrity chefs have been announced with more to follow, increasing the number from last year.
