Celebrity Chef: Simon Rimmer's Biography
Simon Rimmer is an accomplished television presenter and author. Currently co-presenting Great Food Live and Great Food Bites on UKTV Food, Simon also has had two of his own series on Granada – Rimmer’s Dinners and Grubs Up, the latter is now in its 2nd series on ITV1 with a third series going into production in summer 2005.
Simon also presents the property show To Buy or Not to Buy (BBC 1) and has recently filmed a pilot for Channel 4, The Main Ingredient.
Simon began his television career on Granada Breeze, hosting shows such as Livetime and Battle of the Chefs. However, he has also appeared regularly on programmes including This Morning, Granada Tonight, A Taste for Travel, Lunchtime Live and The Afternoon Show, Gloria’s Open House – Channel 5 and Xchange for CBBC.
Simon’s restaurant ‘Greens’ in Manchester has been given the accolade of the best and most exciting vegetarian restaurants in the UK and has recently won North West Restaurant of the Year. With a fresh, funky and fun approach to food, Simon believes that cooking is about exciting people. It should be sociable, straightforward and sparkling.
Advertising and endorsement campaigns include Eurocamp, Blue Dragon, SlimFast, Fyffes Bananas and Dolmio and Simon is often used for corporate events and demonstrations, which have included demos for Volvo, Fairclough Homes and Renault Gastronomique.
Simon’s first book – The Accidental Vegetarian (Cassells) was published in October 2004 to great acclaim. His second book is now in production – provisionally entitled The Rebel Cook (due for publication in 2006).
Simon is also a freelance textile designer and ceramic decorator after having achieved a degree in Fashion & Textile Design.
