About Chester Festivals

Chester Festivals

Brief

Since 2006 to 2008 Marketing PRojects took care of the press relations for the Chester Festivals such as Food & Drink Festival, St Werburgh Festival, Mystery Plays, Roman Festival, Music Festival, European Festival, Fashion Festival and Literature Festival.
Chester is a mecca for people passionate about art, culture, literature, music, food or interested in experiencing the very best. A year-round programme of events and Festivals means there is always something to see and do in Chester. All of that gives an added reason for tourists to visit the city and take part in its attractions.
Objectives for the PR brief were to make people aware of the festivals, encourage them to take part in them, increase tourism and leisure revenue for the city and employment opportunities through the festivals, using key messages to communicate at different levels regionally and nationally.

Results

Marketing PRojects created and published 18 press releases in regional and national media. Each festival had at least one press office on Marketing Projects’ web site for access by the media and others for release material, background information, relevant quotes, biographies, E-news, images, video clips and DVDs produced to record events.
Marketing Project was in touch with around 80 local journalists, 500 non-local journalists with whom we have spoken, and circulate releases to 900 various media contacts about the Chester Festivals.

Festivals coverage for Chester included BBC North West Tonight, Granada Reports, Hollyoaks, Manchester Evening News ‘What’s on’, Daily Post ‘Working lunch’, Guardian, Sunday Times, Telegraph, Independent, Virgin Rail magazine, Western mail, Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose magazines, Homes & Gardens, Kent Messenger, European, Australian and American titles, bbc.co.uk and Visit Britain.
