Shopping centre launches search for 35 plus models
Are you a gorgeous or handsome 30 something or feeling fab in your forties?
The Chester Grosvenor Shopping Centre is giving wannabe models the chance to turn their catwalk dreams into a reality in an exclusive competition to celebrate all things fashion.
The shopping centre has teamed up with one of the country"s leading agencies, Catwalk Model Management to offer wannabe models aged 35-45, the chance to strut their stuff on the catwalk and win a one-year modelling contract, plus a £500 photography session prize.
“A Model in the Making” competition has been organised as part of the celebrations for this year"s Chester Fashion Fortnight, which will see an array of fashion themed events throughout the city to showcase the best of Chester fashion.
Hollyoaks Make-up Artist, Lynne Davey will be joining forces with former Trinny & Susannah Fashion Stylist, Emma Jones, to search for wannabe models as they stroll through the Chester Grosvenor Shopping Centre from Monday 22 September to Wednesday 24 September.
Sharon Boddy, Marketing Manager at the Chester Grosvenor Shopping Centre, commented: "Unlike your usual model scouting competition, “A Model in the Making” competition will be looking for models other than the Fashion Industry"s standard size 8.
“Our model scouts will be searching for women candidates size 12-14 and male candidates with a size 32-36 inch waist and 38-44 inch chest. All candidates must be 5ft 6in or above and in the 35-45 age group category.
“The aim of the competition is to find a model who is representative of real people, wearing real clothes. We are delighted to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity to our community and to celebrate Chester as a first class fashion and shopping destination.”
During the three-day selection process, model scouts will log the vital statistics and take photographs of candidates, while Chester"s Dee 106.3 radio will be in the shopping centre on Monday 22 September, broadcasting the competition as it happens, live on air.
Five winners will be selected to go into the final, with the overall winner being announced during the Chester Grosvenor Shopping Centre"s Fashion Show on Saturday 27 September.
In addition to a year"s contract with Catwalk Model Management, the winner will also receive £500 worth of photography, courtesy of Venture.

-The launch of “A Model in the Making” competition
-“Handbags and Gladrags” – Fashion students from the University of Chester will be designing a handbag and outfit for fashion week with the best designs being chosen by Fashion Stylist, Emma Jones
-Shoppers can enjoy a range of fashion and beauty events with demonstrations and make-up tips from Boots and Debenhams, makeovers, Indian Head Massages and goody bags.
• Friday 26 September – Live Windows. Models will be showing off the hottest seasonal looks by replacing mannequins in the centre"s shop windows for the day.
• Saturday 27 September – Grosvenor Shopping Centre Fashion Show
• Sunday 28 September – Fashion on the Move – Models will be walking around the shopping centre offering fashion advice, plus there will be fun for all the family with a Beary Fashion Show, courtesy of Build a Bear
