Fashion forward
There may be a chilly wind flowing through the economy this Autumn but the fashion industry does not necessarily follow suit with designers working even harder to create something unique, worthy of spending that extra, hard earned cash.
Their efforts can be seen with a diverse range of looks for this season, all with big emphasis on “statement” clothes. Something for everyone.
It wouldn"t take a highly acclaimed fashion critic to notice that trends for the last few seasons have all crowded under the same umbrella: Plain, single tone clothes with big statement accessories – sequined, multi coloured handbags and very noticeable footwear to match.
Although a great success in providing such a versatile look, it"s now “so last season”. Clothes need to make “that statement” this season, rather than the accessories. It"s all about printed mini-dresses, lacy blouses, dramatic cuts to clothing, changing hemlines and bold colours. Stay off the black if you can with dark blues or brighter colour options.
Catwalk models to Chester Chic
This look is not restricted to the catwalk. It has quickly been taken up in the high street stores where a galore of print dresses can be found as well a bright, rich toned wear, not usual for autumn but warmly welcomed against the dull climate. Chester has all the great stores here for finding what you need. All the main themes are here, “folk”, “opulent evenings”, “structured tailoring”, “glam-gothic” and some key trends, midi hemlines with pencil skirts, checks and tartans, and extreme trousers – skinny or super-wide.
Bright colours match warmth and warm is what you"ll be with this season"s great range of chunky oversized knits, perfectly matched with skinny leather trousers and fringed boots typically associated with the Boho and folk look. Fashion followers should beware though, you need to choose one key piece to give focus to the look and avoid the jumble-sale effect. Footwear is ever noticeable, chunky and bright to match this season"s looks. Watch out for those cobbles with death defying heels.
