Faces of Chester 2008
Two models have been crowned the Face of Chester 2008 at a packed catwalk event in the city last night. Kristie Clinch, 15, and Adam Rose, 23, walked away with a year"s modelling contract with Boss Model Management. More than 80 people attended the event at The Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel, St. John Street.
Last year"s Face of Chester Catriona Vowles was at the show to present the new Faces with their prize. The 16 male and female finalists were handpicked from hundreds of entrants from in and around Chester; they performed a catwalk show, with the latest Autumn/Winter collections supplied by a range of Chester retailers including Coast, Kookai and Diesel. The evening was hosted by Jamie Stevens of Dee 106.3.
The runners-up were Jaime Futcher, of Vicars Cross, and Rachel Eglin, of Broughton who won a photographic session with John Pawley of International Studios.
Stephen Wundke, Chester City Coordinator, said:
“This is the third year of the Face of Chester and was a fantastic show played out in front of a packed audience. We wish the Faces of Chester well and trust they will represent our city with distinction. We hope this really kick starts this year”s Chester Fashion Fortnight and also launches a glittering career for the Faces of Chester."
Speaking last night, Lauren Mellor of Boss Model Management, who was one of the judges, added:
“Tonight has been fabulous. We”ve seen some great faces. Kristie and Adam will be put in the fast lane. They have to put in a lot of hard work now and look after themselves. The Faces of Chester win a photographic and make up session with a professional photographer. We aim to give them the best foot up the ladder we can."
After winning Kristie Clinch, of Willaston, Wirral, said: “I feel amazing. I can”t believe it. This is a great opportunity."
Adam Rose, of The Boulevard, Broughton, who gained a 2:1 Degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Bradford, added: "I"m really surprised, but delighted. I entered the Face of Chester in 2006 and really wanted to win the competition. I couldn"t enter last year because I was at University. Winning this year is great."
Last year, Tom Hill, 23, and Catriona Vowles, 19, took the top prizes in The Face of Chester. As a result, Catriona has had numerous modelling jobs across the globe and will be shortly taking part in catwalk shows in Milan.
Speaking last night Catriona, who was one of the judges along with Stuart Alexander of Boss Model Management, added:
“Winning the Face of Chester really changed my life. I”ve travelled to some amazing places. I really didn"t think I could be a model; my sister entered me in the competition. The judges are looking for beauty; quirkiness helps and a great walk. The most difficult assignment I"ve had so far has been in a cold bath. The most glamorous have been the Fashion Shows. I appeared in a Dior Couture show this week. You get a great buzz."
