West Cheshire’s largest social homes provider has received a national Award for an outstanding regeneration project for the over 55’s.
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) won the prestigious UK Over 50’s Housing Award for its £3.2 million Hoole House development at an Awards ceremony in London.
The ceremony was attended by hundreds from the housing sector with the awards celebrating and rewarding excellence in the UK Over 50’s housing sector. Holly Stiles, of CDHT’s development team, received the Most Outstanding Regeneration Project (Affordable Housing) in the UK Award for the Hoole House scheme, which will provide 36 two-bed homes in Chester.
John Denny, Chief Executive of CDHT, said:
“We are delighted to have received national recognition for Hoole House, which will be completed in February. This is great news for our development team, who are delivering hugely successful and cutting edge mixed use schemes, providing sustainable communities that show our intent to continue to regenerate for the benefit of Chester and beyond. This development is part of a £10m development portfolio we are currently delivering alongside a whole range of people based regeneration initiatives, which makes CDHT one of the largest developers in the area.”
Judge Esmonde Crawley, a world authority with more than 25 years experience in the housing sector, added:
“Chester & District Housing Trust is the most outstanding exemplar for regeneration in affordable housing in 2010. CDHT has lifted and enhanced the sector via innovation such as that seen with the Hoole House development.”
Hoole House is a 36-home scheme built to demanding eco-code level 3, which comprises 24 high quality apartments to rent with another 12 for sale on a shared ownership basis. The sales properties included in the development have just been released to the market and are being marketed by Cavendish Ikin of Chester.
