Regeneration of Hoole House
Building work has started on a £3.2 million regeneration scheme which will provide 36 two-bed retirement homes in Chester.
Hoole House, which is being developed by Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT), replaces 22 bed-sits at Willow Crescent, Hoole. The new 36 home scheme comprises 24 high quality apartments to rent with another 12 on a shared ownership basis. The new development for over 55s will increase the number of affordable homes in the community and is due to be finished by contractors G & J Seddon Limited by January 2011.
Cllr Rob Thompson, Chair of the CDHT Board, attended the first day of building work at Hoole House, with Winston Lea, CDHT resident and a member of the Supported Housing Group which looks at the way in which CDHT delivers its services and Jonathan Seddon, Managing Director of G & J Seddon Limited.
John Denny, CDHT Chief Executive, said:
“This cutting edge scheme will exceed the needs of elderly residents in Cheshire, as part of a wider regeneration project which will deliver a further 135 homes this year. These developments will provide sustainable communities, enhancing the area with green space and landscaping, promoting better health and stimulating the economy and construction industry across Cheshire West.”
