New homes for Lache
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has started the regeneration of three derelict garage sites in an area of Chester which will create seven new homes.
The Trust is developing two four-bed homes, three three-beds and two-two bed homes on Newbury and Fairford Road, Lache, with a value of more than £700,000.
Chester MP Stephen Mosley visited the mixed-tenure scheme, where building work has begun on the three shared ownership homes and four for rent. This project also received funding of more than £240,000 from the Homes & Communities Agency.
Phil Jones, CDHT Director of Property Services, said:
“This initiative is about working with residents to regenerate areas and about making the best use of space available. Residents have had a big say in the project and there has also been real cooperation with Cheshire West & Chester Council. CDHT’s Trustworks will be building these properties using our own resources with a mix of local sub contractors. The project has also allowed us to further develop our skills in house building, which will create further new build opportunities for TrustWorks in the future.”
Chester MP Stephen Mosley added:
“It was great to see this development in Lache, which is creating local jobs and local housing for local people. One of the biggest problems we face in Chester is the lack of family housing which this development delivers.”
The properties will be advertised upon completion early next year and for more updates please visit the blog on www.cdht.org
