Housing Trust highlights Care And Support Awareness month for National Housing Federation
The National Housing Federation is highlighting the needs of those members of society that require additional support and have set aside July as the month for housing organisations to showcase their services.
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has responded by working with a group of residents of sheltered housing to organise a week of activities, information and fun to provide advice for those who need additional services, who are wondering what is available and for those who would just like to come along and meet other older residents.
The special events are:
Friday 23rd July at 2pm Strawberry Tea at Craddock Court in Malpas.
Monday 26th July 2pm planned opening of Suffolk House new sheltered scheme in Egerton Street, City Centre. Refreshments in Francis Street Community Room.
Tuesday 27th July 2pm Afternoon Tea at Newton House, Plas Newton.
Wednesday 28th July 10.30 Morning Coffee at Centurion House with information and activity stalls.
Wednesday 28th July 2pm Afternoon Tea at Centurion House with information and activity stalls.
Thursday 29th July 2pm Afternoon Tea at Kingfisher Court.
Sue Kennaugh from CDHT’s Resident Involvement Team said:
“At each event we hope to have a selection of activities, information and advice. Last year, our Purple Day was particularly well received and we expect the same from more events held across the region. I do hope to see as many as possible attend. Please put the dates in your diary. Everyone will be guaranteed a warm welcome, provided with loads of information on local services and have a bit of fun. Do let us know if you can come.”
John Denny, Chief Executive of CDHT, added:
“This sort of initiative is very important in demonstrating our commitment to caring and supporting those that can be considered more vulnerable. It involves a lot of work by our colleagues and is really appreciated by everyone, especially when they understand that for every pound spent on support, over two pounds is saved on other public services.”
