CDHT cycling team raises thousands for charity
A cycling team from Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) raised more than £3,750 for charity by cycling from coast to coast.
The team, which was made up of 11 cyclists and two support colleagues, presented Claire House Children’s Hospice with a cheque for £3797, which was raised after cycling 147 miles over three days. The team left CDHT’s Octavian Centre in Chester before setting off on the national Coast to Coast route from Workington on the West coast to Tynemouth on the East.
The challenge was broken down into three legs of 47 miles on day one, 56 miles on day two and the last day of 44 miles. In between these mile posts are The Lake District and The Pennines.
All eleven cyclists have visited Claire House Children’s Hospice and were given a guided tour of the Hospice showing how and where monies will be used.
Andre Kujawinski, CDHT Maintenance Officer (Bathrooms) who has planned and organised the event, said:
“This was a tough challenge – we are really pleased with the total raised for Claire House. We all trained hard for this – the team worked well together really pushing each other on. We are discussing next year’s challenge.”
Laura Irving, Senior Area Fundraiser for Claire House Children’s Hospice, added:
“This was a great team effort, raising a significant amount of money for Claire House. The money will be used to go towards our nursing costs, which are our biggest cost, so thanks very much to Chester & District Housing Trust for all of their hard work and to all of the people who have donated.”
The cyclists included: Morgan Bailey, Kev Bean, Charlie Boden, Paul Finch, Dion Jones, Andre Kujawinski, Darren Lavender, Dan Lloyd, Sarah Perry, Jay Shepherd and Phil Whitlow, with Ian Arnott and Ray Hunt as the support team.
