CDHT Bright Spark Wins Award
Talented apprentice electrician at Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) Sam Moscrop has won an Award from the College where he is training.
Sam, who is in the first year of his apprenticeship with CDHT, is working towards his NVQ Level 2 in Electrical Installation at Yale College. Sam, aged 17, received the prestigious annual Yale Bright Spark Award at Yale College’s recent Awards Evening.
Dedicated to his trade, Sam, who attended Upton High School, has focused his energies on improving his skills at the College’s £5 million Engineering and Construction Centre in Wrexham.
Sam, of Saughall, said:
“Working at CDHT with qualified electricians has really inspired my College work. You get great on the job experience with CDHT and this Award is all down to the qualified electrician I work with, Matthew Stubbs, who has really encouraged me.”
Matthew Stubbs added:
“Sam is a good worker who listens to what he’s told. He’s done really well to win this Award, which is a great achievement.”
Judged throughout the year on Attitude, Attendance and Ability, Sam won a certificate and also a tool-belt with tools from Yale College.
Howard Griffiths, Electrical Installations lecturer at Yale College, said:
“Sam’s approach to his work has been really positive. Our standards are high and he has made a great start in his first year.”
Apprentices assist CDHT maintenance technicians with repairs and major works for up to four years and the apprenticeships include training to National Vocational Qualification level in their chosen trade and also multi-skill training. The majority become part of CDHT’s permanent workforce.
