Award-winning family homes available
Family homes which are creating sustainable communities for the future in an area of Chester have won a building award for the quality of their construction.
Chester and District Housing Trust (CDHT) has invested £12.3 million into Chester Point, a housing development in Stratford and Treborth Road, Blacon. The development, which has been created in partnership between CDHT and affordable housing developer Lovell, won the Local Authority Building Control Built in Quality Award for Best Housing Project in recognition of the high standards of construction and workmanship.
Chester Point is a mixed housing development which includes a play area and open spaces. There is also a ‘Homezone’ area where the street is equally shared with pedestrians, cyclists and motorists increasing pedestrian safety. CDHT has recently held an Open Day at Chester Point for prospective buyers for the Treborth Road properties. The Stratford Road properties were the first phase of the Chester Point development.
Following the demolition of 162 properties, Chester Point includes 156 new homes, consisting of two, three and four-bed homes, two-bed apartments and two-bed bungalows. These are a mixture of sale, shared ownership and rented properties; the end of the first phase marks the completion of more than 54 properties available. Building work began on the project in July 2007 and will be completed by the end of this year.
Danielle Harrison, Senior Development Officer for CDHT, said:
“I am delighted that Chester Point has won this Award. We have enjoyed working in partnership with Lovell to enhance this area. We still have nine three-bedroom contemporary design homes available, each offering a quality fitted kitchen with cooker, hob and hood and a modern bathroom with bath and shower. If you are eligible, you can purchase a share in the property, for instance you may purchase 50 per cent and pay a reduced rent on the remaining share of the property. You may increase your share in the property as and when you wish, up to 100 per cent ownership, depending on what suits your circumstances. All of the homes are extremely energy-efficient and spacious.”
Chester & District Housing Trust in partnership with Plus Housing Group, Cheshire West & Chester Council, Lovell and TASC 2000 Residents’ Association are offering a limited number of beautiful homes at affordable prices, from just £66,500 for a 3- bedroom home based on 50 per cent share.
