Jewellers toast a vintage occasion
Vintage watches, wine and cars were on display at the 17th Century Corks Out Crypt on Watergate Street, Chester. Waltons of Chester hosted the event, which celebrated traditional craftsmanship and all things vintage.
In addition to the latest IWC collection on display were priceless timepieces specially brought to Chester for the occasion from the IWC museum in Schaffhausen. Guests enjoyed champagne and wine from Corks Out and a 1959 Jaguar XK 150 SE, restored by Cheshire Classic Cars, rolled the vintage theme onto the street. More than 50 people attended the invitation only event, organised by the Eastgate Street jewellers.
Richard Hogben, General Manager of Waltons of Chester, added; “The Vintage Evening brought together products that share unifying principles; devotion to detail, tradition and timeless style. The event also complemented our close relationship with IWC whose newest ambassador is footballer Zinédine Zidane. Perhaps we could invite Zinédine to kick off Waltons of Chester’s centenary next year? That would prove to be a vintage year to remember.”
David Lee, Manager of Waltons of Chester, Eastgate Street, said: “As Chester’s leading independent jeweller, we pride ourselves on having an eye for detail and appreciate quality when we see it. Of course, wine is made every year, but only the best years are classed as vintage. Similarly, with IWC Schaffhausen, it is not when a watch was created, but the craftsmen’s commitment to the highest standards and traditional values. That is the true mark of vintage.”
