Award-winning Queen's girls inspired to succeed
The Queen’s School, Chester, held its annual prize giving evening on Monday 10 December 2007. Sonia Beldom, a motivational trainer and the creative brains behind popular TV shows such as Victoria’s Empire with Victoria Wood, presented the prizes at the event.
The evening was an opportunity to recognise the hard work of the girls and their accomplishments throughout the year. Prizes for outstanding achievement at A Level were awarded to many of the school leavers, with the Year 12 girls being commended for their excellent success at GCSE. Senior students were also presented with trophies and cups in recognition of their academic, musical and sporting accomplishments over the last 12 months.
The guest speaker, Sonia Beldom, is an award-winning television development executive who now works as a successful consultant and is on a mission to motivate and train people to unleash their creative genius.
Recognised for her passion, enthusiasm and energy, she helps people make the most of their creative potential. The Queen’s girls were inspired by her address in which she highlighted the importance of following their instincts and realising their ambitions.
Staff and supporters of The Queen’s School believe that there should be no boundaries to the girls’ ambitions, either personally or in terms of their education. Mrs Catherine Buckley, Headmistress of The Queen’s School, explained that Ms Beldom was the ideal speaker for an evening that celebrates young women and their potential.
Mrs Buckley said: “We were delighted to have Sonia as our guest of honour at the prize giving. Her fascinating experiences, entertaining anecdotes and motivational words were a great inspiration to the pupils.”
