Cutting costs - 21 steps to recruitment
Did you know there are 21 steps for full-time recruitment and 17 to recruit a temp? Chester’s longest established recruitment firm The Business Connection does and has produced a 21 step guide to help employers recruit successfully. The guide outlines the stages needed step-by-step and calculates it would take employers an average of 31 hours and 15 minutes to recruit one candidate, which includes planning, screening ad responses, assessment and selection. Employers can, however, save hours of time and cut costs by using The Business Connection, who can reduce the time taken by employers to recruit candidates by more than 25 hours, thereby cutting costs to their business.
Kirsty Craig, Managing Director of The Business Connection, said: “A good quality recruitment specialist can save anyone recruiting time which can have a real cost benefit to the employer. Contrary to popular belief, an agency fee is usually less than if an employer undertook the entire process themselves.
For example, a project to recruit for an average level candidate can cost employers £3,000 plus advertising costs if they chose to run the project themselves and there is no guarantee of success. We assessed six months of recent recruitment placements and determined a project takes more than 30 hours of the employer’s valuable time.
Even after going through this process, there is the increasingly fickle new ‘non-starter’ who has accepted the job offer but at the last minute pulls out. The Business Connection guarantees a candidate for up to eight weeks following commencement in the role, to give a new starter and the organisation concerned time for proper assessment. We use competency based interviewing techniques when assessing candidates’ skills.
We offer the complete service and help employers every step of the way, from aiding with job descriptions and person specification to confirming the offer details and nurturing the candidate through the ‘new kid on the block’ feeling that everyone goes through when they start a new job.”
Kirsty’s husband Tim Craig, director of The Business Connection, has a particular strength in financial crime markets. Tim’s expertise could be of assistance to his son, the new Chester born James Bond, Daniel Craig, whose first Bond film Casino Royale is due for release at the Chester regional premiere on November 15.
