Sam Rayner – Aged 53 – Managing Director, Lakeland Limited
Lakeland is largely a family run business with an annual turnover of £120 million and 1,500 employees. Lakeland is a mail order company with associated retail outlet businesses, retailing a wide range of kitchenware. Lakeland was started by his father in the very early 1960s as “Lakeland Poultry Packers”.
Andrew Tinkler – Aged 57 – Group Chairman, WA Developments International Limited
WA Developments is involved in property, transport, logistics, construction, civil engineering and retail. Turnover approx. £170 million and 2480 employees. Over the past 12 months, Andrew has led the turnaround in the fortunes of Eddie Stobart Limited and acquired Carlisle airport. Increased turnover is largely the result of growth and restructure in Eddie Stobart, WA Developments and an international operation in Ukraine. Andrew is driven by challenges and success.

Sarah Dunning – Aged 36 – Chief Executive, Westmorland Ltd
Westmorland Ltd has two motorway service stations and a 52 bedroom hotel, which is currently being refurbished, with an annual turnover of £35 million and 500 employees. They have a roadside service just off the motorway which serves the coach market and have Rheghed which opened in 2000. Rheghed has two elements – visitor attraction and leisure attraction. It also has conference and exhibition space for business use. The building is 90,000 square feet and is just on the roundabout off junction 40 of the M6 on the gateway to the Lake District. Sarah took over from her father as Chief Executive in July 2005 (previous to this she was a director of the company and part of the core management team). Sarah has been responsible for setting out a clear strategy for the future of the business and developing a new team to implement it.
James Francis – Aged 38 – Managing Director, Kingmoor Technical Services
Kingmoor Technical Services is a food analysis and consultancy support business with 40 employees and an increased turnover of 30% by year end. The business has developed and grown over the past year (James was also a finalist in 2005.). They have moved into new premises which are four times the size of the old premises.
Paul Hopper – Aged 30 – Managing Director, Northern Security Ltd.
Northern Security Ltd is in security services, with 105 employees and a turnover approaching £3 million. Paul has succeeded in turning a non-profit making security company into a profitable company within 8 months of acquisition, whilst maintaining existing customers, standardising procedures and streamlining existing practices.
