Forecasting Solution for Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials from IMS
Information Management Solutions Ltd. (IMS), the dynamic IT consultancy for business solutions, announced today the completion of a forecasting project for Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials. The company is a world leader in electronic materials and process technology development.
Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials has worked with IMS since 1998 on a number of key IT projects. Most recently this has been on a Business Intelligence (BI) project and now a Forecasting project.
The forecasting solution links to the BI solution and allows analysis of Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials’s sales against budget and forecast. This system, known as the Value Forecast Tool (VFT) within Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, takes volume forecasts, pricing contracts, cost information and currency rates from the various transaction systems and the Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials Data Warehouse and allows Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials to value the forecast. The forecast value can then be increased or decreased by specific customer or product, by salesman, by sales manager or for the whole company. Multiple iterations of a forecast can be worked on at one time allowing up-side and down-side forecasts to be prepared.
The system is in use by business and financial analysts and demand planners in Europe and the US. The use of the award-winning ProClarity software gives great flexibility in analysing trends and finding where markets, customers and products are changing. Quick follow up to the analysis ensures that underlying assumptions can be validated to further inform the decision making process.
The benefits for Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials are:
· Centralised tool and process for budget and forecast
· One forecast for both volume and value for Sales and Operations Planning and for Financial Forecasting
· A quicker turnaround of the global forecast, down from weeks to days or even hours!
Data is stored in SQL Server, manipulated using custom software designed and written by IMS. The system utilises Microsoft Analysis Services to generate analysis cubes and ProClarity as the software for the end user to explore the data.
Robin Edmonds, managing director of IMS;
“Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials had many variables influencing their forecasting process. We looked at off-the-shelf software but nothing fitted the complex needs that Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials had articulated. Our custom software enables Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials to generate and manipulate the forecast. We were also able to take advantage of Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials’ investment in ProClarity as the end-user tool of choice from the BI project to provide a best-of-breed analytical solution.”
Stewart Douglas, IT Director at Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials;
“The IMS Forecasting tool enables us to work more effectively. Now we are able to identify trends in our business based on data and react to them quickly. IMS’ commitment to the project and to our business resulted in a successful project, delivered on time and budget.
