Business Intelligence Solution for Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials from IMS

Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials has worked with IMS since 1998 on a number of key IT projects. More recently Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials has concentrated on its business processes to maximise the information available for its managers to enable them to make informed, key decisions about the business – fast. This has resulted in Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials’ Business Intelligence (BI) project which was recently completed by IMS for Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials. The project utilizes the award-winning ProClarity BI software to allow users around the globe to identify business trends, investigate underlying data and inform for better business management – the IMS i3 approach.
The BI solution, in which IMS acted as technical architects, extracts sales data from all the transaction systems in Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials. These include information in software from Prism, PRMS, Baan, JD Edwards, SAP, and even in spreadsheets. It transforms this data into a homogeneous form and makes it available through ProClarity to over 250 users worldwide. In addition Excel reports are automatically emailed to all Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials’ sales people throughout US and Europe, listing the sales for the period and year that are relevant to each sales person.
In technology terms, data is extracted and stored in Microsoft SQL server. Microsoft Analysis Services is used to generate analysis cubes, and finally ProClarity’s software enables the end user to explore the data. For those sales users, who are on the road, an Excel pivot-table based solution was chosen as this enables fast distribution by Email, and keeps training costs down.
