Chester Zoo sets the scene for Developer's Conference

More than 100 representatives from the property and construction industry attended a special conference organised by top 30 UK legal firm Hill Dickinson LLP at Chester Zoo last week.

The conference covered a range of topical issues tailored to the property and construction audience. These included the latest developments in planning, changes to environmental legislation and health & safety updates, with a focus on the recently introduced Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act.

Robin Jones, senior partner at Hill Dickinson Chester said: “The excellent turn-out reflected the fact that there is a particular need for legal guidance and support within the property and construction sector in the current climate. The legal and commercial challenges this sector now faces in achieving the same levels of growth reached over recent years are considerable. Detailed and comprehensive legal advice is required and the conference provided us with an opportunity to demonstrate how Hill Dickinson can provide this.”

Clients then mingled at a drinks and barbecue reception in the Oakfield Restaurant where they were able to discuss current challenges facing the sector. The event was so successful it will be held again next year.

Hill Dickinson regularly holds conferences and seminars on all matters of commercial significance. Details on these and an information pack from this event are available from Hill Dickinson’s Chester Office by ringing 01244 896600.

Hill Dickinson Developers’ Conference:

The presentations included insights into the highs and lows of optional and conditional contracts when acquiring land and to increasing court intervention in contract disputes. The Government’s new planning bill to manage and speed up national infrastructure projects was reviewed as well as updates on the recent Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act. The lectures culminated with emphasis on the need for energy performance certificates for all properties and the construction industry’s need to improve its record of waste management in this dramatically changing environment.
