Hair Matters to Hilary

Hillary Clinton has been passing on hints and tips for success in her bid for the White House:

“I have learned, and this may be the most important thing I have to say to you today, hair matters.”

Mrs. Clinton was addressing students graduating at Yale University, but Richard Hall, owner of Hair Matters in Lower Bridge Street, Chester, thinks it is sound advice for all:

“Hair matters to everyone. Celebrating my 20th year in the salon, I’ve seen the effect a great cut has on clients. Even if you’re not in the public eye, a well designed style works wonders with your confidence and self-esteem. If you judge a man by his clothes, you certainly judge a woman by her hair.

I find Spring is the season when people review their image and want a change, men included. A new hairstyle is often the easiest way to achieve this and we spend time with new clients discussing what they need and what suits. Many have job changes coming up or a special occasion on the horizon and a fresh cut is just the thing to make them shine on the day. Working towards this is better than coming in the day before. Don’t forget you need a 24 hour skin test by law now for any perms or colours.

Pay attention to your hair, because others will. It’s a great way of making changes, looking good and feeling great about yourself.”

Hair Matters celebrated its 20 year anniversary recently. Owner Richard Hall puts the salon’s success down to good communication with clients and builds a relationship with each to ensure this.

The Lower Bridge Street cellar salon is a spectacular backdrop for the front of stage cut and colour work. Most clients have been visiting for years, a few were original customers in 1988. The salon has a client charter and is very well respected within the profession, winning many awards over the years.

Each new client receives a complimentary consultation session to include professional advice on which style and hairdressing services will most compliment face shape, hair texture and lifestyle. Clients are also taught how to recreate the salon look at home.

Products used include the Wella System Professional range for tailor-made hair care and the salon holds a Master Colour Award. Richard was awarded his Master Colour Award in 2004 with distinction.
