New Board appointments strengthen CDHT team
Chester & District Housing Trust (CHDT) has appointed Cllr Rob Thompson as the new Chair, with resident Martin Ford as new Deputy Chair and Kate Reeves as new Independent Board Director.
Cllr Thompson, Lib Dem Cllr for Hoole All Saints Ward in Chester, first joined the Board in 2003 and was Deputy Chair whilst CDHT underwent a major restructuring. Cllr Thompson was part of the CDHT team that saw the Trust achieve “two stars with excellent prospects’ following the Audit Commission in March 2007.
The ten Board Directors are split into four Independent Board Directors, three Board Directors nominated by the City Council and three Tenant Board Directors. Cllr Thompson, Mr Ford and Mrs Reeves have been appointed for a year.
Cllr Thompson said: “The Housing Trust has built a resilient and robust platform on which to build for future growth. We need to grow as an organisation, create more social housing and regenerate communities. This is an exciting time for the Trust and its employees and together we have the opportunity to build stronger communities. I’m looking forward to the challenges. We have to develop partnerships with our stakeholders and involve residents in the processes of the Housing Trust. With residents included in the decision making we are a stronger organisation.”
Mr Ford, who has lived for three years at Kingfisher Court, Northgate Avenue, Chester, added: “Being Deputy Chair is a challenge I’m looking forward to. I feel very proud and honoured that I was put forward for this position. It wasn’t something I was expecting. We’re looking after the interests of the Trust from a resident’s perspective. Since I’ve been living in Chester I’ve noticed a dramatic change in the outlook of the Housing Trust, which is now a lot more open.”
Mrs Reeves, who has worked for more than 25 years in the housing building and commercial property development sectors, said: “I am highly delighted to have been invited to join the Board of CDHT where my experience and dedication to social housing and community wellbeing will help augment the already highly professional team.”
