CDHT launches new partnership stores with Buildbase
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has opened onsite partnership stores at “TrustWorks”, its repairs and maintenance site based at Octavian Centre, off Sealand Road, Chester. The new stores will serve TrustWorks” plumbers, joiners, builders and Maintenance Technicians through a partnership agreement with Buildbase. This is a ground breaking dedicated store within the UK housing sector in terms of its size and the level of partnership cooperation needed.

The vehicles are designed for the diverse range of roles within the Trust and will reduce operational costs and emissions, increase productivity and enhance the service CDHT offers to its customers. Blooming Neighbourhood Eco-Garden
Green fingered residents in an area of Chester have had a new standpipe installed to enhance their eco-garden. In a joint initiative between Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT), Chester City Council and Blacon Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder a standpipe has been installed at the residents’ request, which will make watering the garden easier. Neighbours Kath Evans and Sharon Stokes, of Bridgeman Road, Blacon, said they are absolutely delighted with this latest improvement.

CDHT and Police team up to tackle crime
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) and Cheshire Police have formed a strategic relationship to target crime in Chester. CDHT has been working with designated officers from the Chester Outer Neighbourhood Policing Unit to reduce crime in the Blacon Hall ward. The campaign is part of a long term relationship between CDHT and the Police across the whole city that combines several areas of expertise to create better communities.

£8.7 million investment in affordable, new homes with CDHT

Students learn from housing trust
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has teamed up with the University of Chester to provide hands-on experience of working life to students. CDHT currently has seven students from the University on work based learning placements. The students are working in many different areas, including Human Resources, Information Technology, Housing Management, Waste Management and Neighbourhood Enterprise. Tasks range from consulting with staff to improve IT services to working on ways of reducing the environmental impact of the Trust.

CDHT announces lowest ever eviction rates
The biggest housing association in Chester is bucking the national trend by reducing the number of evictions at their properties due to rent arrears. The government has recently announced it is to launch a working group to look into concerns that some housing associations are too quick to evict tenants. ChesterCare launches new Choice service
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has simplified and improved ChesterCare’s community alarm and support service for CDHT tenants and other customers. It is launching ChesterCareChoice with new levels of support services. Previously, grouping people into one of eight categories, the support and associated costs were often based on how long the tenants had been in CDHT properties and the categories were complicated. There are now three, more flexible, easier to understand, new levels of ChesterCareChoice based on needs and where the support can be designed around the individual. These changes will be implemented during June and July.

About Chester & District Housing Trust
Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) was created in November 2000 to acquire the housing stock of Chester District Council and now owns and manages over 6,200 properties in and around Chester, employing 275 staff. The Trust’s homes fall in to six neighbourhoods – Blacon North; Blacon South; Chester City Area; The Rurals; Lache and Handbridge; Upton, Hoole, Newton and Plas Newton.
CDHT provides a range of services to tenants and residents in Chester and surrounding areas. These include ChesterCare, a community alarm service for CDHT tenants, other association tenants and private customers and also the specially designated Community Intervention Budget. This improves facilities and allows changes which are felt buy tenants to be vital to their community. CDHT also manages the housing waiting list and homelessness agency service on behalf of Chester City Council.
Current projects for CDHT include the £12million regeneration of the Treborth Road area of Chester, to include 200 new homes for rent, sale and shared ownership, as well as a village green and wildlife habitats.
