Trio of TV Super-chefs announced for 2008

This year’s Chester Food & Drink Festival promises an even more impressive line up of celebrity chefs for visitors to the new Chester Racecourse venue over Easter. Organisers have listened to the public who voted for more chefs at this year’s event and three celebrity chefs have been announced with more to follow, increasing the number from last year.

The celebrity chef line up so far includes Simon Rimmer for Saturday March 22nd. This is the fourth year running that Simon will take to the stage at the Chester Food & Drink Festival. Simon is a TV chef extraordinaire and vegetarian expert, passionate about good food from around the North West. He will be demonstrating his culinary skills in the celebrity kitchen. Simon currently presents Something for the Weekend on BBC 2 and has just finished filming Recipe for Success which will air on BBC 1 in 2008. A fifth series of the very successful Grubs Up will also air on ITV 1 in 2008.

Lotte Duncan has been broadcasting on British television for nine years and is a skilled and highly experienced presenter who will appear at the Chester Food & Drink Festival on Easter Sunday March 23rd. She has been known to cook anywhere, present anywhere and is not afraid of a challenge, holding an interview while bouncing 50 foot in the air on a bungee. Lotte’s television appearances have included ITV1’s Heart of the Country, BBC’s Countryfile: Summer Diaries and Castle in the Country. Mike Robinson will visit on Monday March 24th. Mike has presented top rated series for UKTV Food/Style and Gardens – Heaven’s Kitchen, Heaven’s Kitchen Cookbook and Heaven’s Garden for UKTV Food, UKTV Style and Gardens. Mike is also a regular co-presenter on UKTV Food’s Great Food Live as well as making regular appearances on Saturday Kitchen and Saturday Cooks. All Heaven’s Kitchen series are filmed on location at Mike’s pub/restaurant, The Pot Kiln, near Newbury. Mike has also appeared on Ready Steady Cook and has two other shows to his name Chalet Slaves and Safari Chef.

Stephen Wundke, chairman of the Chester Food and Drink Festival; “In this seventh year of the Festival, there are even more reasons to visit or stay in Chester at Easter. It is a measure of how prestigious the Festival has become that we can attract so many world-class chefs. Last year we secured first-class celebrity chefs and the demonstrations proved so popular we have really focused on this for 2008. Many of the stands in the Racecourse are now taken and we now have only a few opportunities left for sponsors. Hotels and restaurants will also be offering special packages throughout the Festival for visitors.”
