Waltons sparkle at the Polo
Waltons the Jewellers and Jaeger LeCoultre sparkled in the Summer sunshine at the Flames Estates International Polo Tournament, combining sport with the UK premiere of the latest Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso watches at the Chester event.
The much anticipated tournament on Friday and Saturday forms part of the Cheshire Season, with Chester Racecourse’s Polo Club attracting some of the top players in the world. The Final saw a Belgravia foursome, including Chester Racecourse’s chief executive Richard Thomas, narrowly beat a team representing Concept for Living, 10-9 in extra time. Heathcotes also faced a Porsche of Chester team over the turf at The Roodee, in the prestigious event sponsored by Walton’s of Chester for the second year running.
The crowd participated in the polo by cheering on their favourites and replacing and stamping in the divots of turf. Friday was a corporate day with more than 200 invited guests in the Waltons marquee, all getting a sneak preview of the latest Jaeger LeCoultre watches. The Final chukkas taking place on Saturday were particularly popular as members of the public, players and horses basked in the Summer sunshine, with more than 230 people in the Waltons marquee.
Richard Hogben, General Manager of Waltons of Chester, said: “This was a fantastic event and Waltons is proud to be once again supporting the polo at Chester Racecourse this year. The polo proved to be a great success and we had another weekend of thrilling equestrian competition. This was the first time four of the new range of Jaeger LeCoultre watches have been seen in the UK.”
