TV toast for Artisan Wines

Chester based Artisan Wines is toasting the appearance of Domaine Viret on TV last week. These quirky and original French wines appeared in the new BBC series ‘Oz and James’s Big Wine Adventure.’ Artisan Wines have been big supporters of Domaine Viret for some time now and currently stock the widest range available in the UK. But hurry as there is limited availability of many Domaine Viret wines. Artisan Wines have also put together a specially selected Viret case of 12 bottles for 105 pounds, which allows you to try spectacular wines from across the Domaine Viret range.

Owners of the Domaine Viret label Philippe and Alain Viret make great TV in the series, which is a re-working of the hit film Sideways ,where two friends go on a wine-obsessed road trip together. Leading wine critic Oz Clarke and Top Gear’s James May undertake a tour of France’s top wine regions in order to educate beer drinking James on the subtleties of drinking wine. Whilst in the Rhone, Oz and James, who may not be mates by the end of the series, visit Domaine Viret and are somewhat incredulous at Philippe and Alain’s explanation of cosmoculture, their unique take on an organic approach to viticulture.

Enough of the theory – are the wines any good? The answer is provided by Oz, with an emphatic yes! He suggests you look out for Philippe and Alain’s three top wines – Mareotis, Les Colonnades and Emergence – all of which are stocked by Artisan Wines. Even the ever sceptical James is convinced, calling the wines “fabulous cosmic nectar.”

Artisan Wines owner Andrew Kerr said:

“I am passionate about Domaine Viret wines, which have a spectacular taste and would be an ideal present for a top quality Christmas hamper. Hurry, as stocks of some of these wines are strictly limited! If you have a special occasion, Artisan Wines has a small number of magnums of Emergence, the Viret’s most powerful wine.”

Andrew started up Artisan Wines near Chester in May 2005, with Domaine Viret one of the producers featured in the first Artisan wine list. During this time he has managed to cajole, coax and in some cases literally wrestle cherished wines from the clutches of their French producers and bring them back to the UK. The handcrafted wines supplied by Artisan are made by small, passionate producers. These wines normally stay in France and are often to be found in many of France’s best restaurants.

The perfect way to introduce yourself to the flavour of Domaine Viret is with a special mixed case available exclusively through www.artisanwines.co.uk

The price of the mixed case of seven different wines incorporating 12 bottles is £105 (excluding £5 delivery), a saving of more than £16 on normal list prices.

Background

Artisan Wines Ltd. was set up in May 2005 to enable wine drinkers in the UK to drink quality French wines that the French like to keep for themselves. Artisan offers authentic and individual wines which are selected directly from the wine producers and available at great prices because of this. They can be ordered online at www.artisanwines.co.uk or are occasionally available at special events.

Artisan Wines also stocks wines from leading small producers who are difficult to find in the UK, including: - Clos Rougeard, recently voted top Loire red wine producer in France - Henry Marionnet (Loire), whose wine was rated as one of the 10 most innovative and interesting by a panel of leading wine critics at last year’s Vinexpo - Domaine Alary, a regular top performer from the Southern Cotes du Rhone.

The web site offers a comprehensive and prestigious selection of wines which are very keenly priced. There are also mixed case selections with special discounts, plus first-come, first served offers of hard to get wines.

Each wine order can be tracked until it is delivered to the door. Wines come with comprehensive tasting notes and friends and relatives can order for you from your ‘wish list’ of wines, a great idea for birthdays or special occasions.

Anyone visiting the web site for the first time can request the newsletter to pour over!

So much to choose!
