Working Smarter: the Intelligent Way to do Business

Information Management Solutions Ltd. (IMS) ran two morning seminars this Autumn:

20th October at Microsoft, Thames Valley Park, Reading and 3rd November at the IoD hub, St Peter’s Square, Manchester.

They were aimed at senior managers and executives in companies that want to work smarter, as well as harder in today’s competitive world.

Sponsored and supported by the Institute of Directors (IoD), Computing (VNU Publications), Microsoft® and Information Management Solutions, they assembled the top speakers on Business Intelligence to provide expertise and the current thinking with practical case studies and examples. A round table discussion at the end allowed attendees the chance to clarify their new-found understanding.

· Professor Jim Norton, senior policy advisor at the IoD commented on IT for “UK plc’s’ competitive advantage & gave an introduction to Business Intelligence.

· Renaud Besnard, Product Solution Marketing Manager, Microsoft UK presented the latest thinking on Business Intelligence from Microsoft.

· Richard Hawksworth – MD, OutlookSoft UK who has worked with many FT-SE 350 Companies told us how to “Use Business Intelligence to unify financial and operational Information’, and how the Financial Services and other industry sectors are successfully using Business Intelligence to unify financial and operational Information.

· Robin Edmonds – MD, Information Management Solutions Ltd. detailed how IMS is ‘Using Web Services & Business Intelligence to Integrate a Manufacturing or Logistics Organisation’ with practical examples and case studies from those sectors.

· Finally, there was a Round Table discussion between the speakers and audience, with questions and answers Chaired by Michael Gubbins, Editor of Computing magazine. A buffet lunch followed.
