Planning for Valentines? - It's not too late
England’s first Festival of Romance and the beautiful City of Chester make the perfect combination for a last minute Romantic Break. The City has made it easy for even the most disorganised to look as though they’ve been planning things for weeks for someone and something just a little bit special.

The ten day Chester Festival of Romance will banish the winter blues and welcomes anyone who is yet to book their destination to over 200 events between 4th and 14th February. They include a Wedding Blessing at Chester Cathedral, bridal fayres, concerts, guided and charity walks, romantic plays and film screenings, a Lovers Leap, exhibitions, supermarket singles nights, Latin and other dancing, speed dating and many more special events. On the 18th February even the Orient Express stops by.

Chester makes the perfect romantic weekend getaway and offers an exciting selection of bars, restaurants, shops and hotels to complete an ideal City break.

Hotels and restaurants are celebrating Chester’s Festival of Romance by offering exclusive deals over the Festival period. The 5 star Chester Grosvenor & Spa has thought of everything for your perfect romantic retreat including two nights, Champagne on arrival, flowers, full English Breakfast and parking for the length of your stay. The Michelin starred Arkle restaurant, just celebrating its fifteenth year as such, has a magnificent five course dinner waiting for guests from the Valentines Menu. There is always La Brasserie for more informal dining.

Grab the chance to stay at the “England’s North-West Tourism Award 2004’ winner, Jasmine Cottage, a 5 star self-catering cottage, 10 minutes from the City Centre. Complimentary flowers, chocolates and a bottle of champagne await its guests over Valentines Week.

For romantic meals with a difference, why not try the Mill Hotel’s Love Boat in Chester. For £26 per person, a couple can enjoy a Special Valentines Love Boat Cruise, with a choice of four course meal and a 2/3 house cruise along the canal. The Cheshire Cat is offering visitors “the proposal table’ at which you can “pop the question’ in style.

Lots of other special deals from which to choose. Log onto www.festivalofromance.com for daily updates or ring Chester Visitors Centre on 01244 351609. For further information on the region go to www.visitchester.com.

The Festival is being organised on behalf of Chester City Council with support from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and Cheshire & Warrington Tourism Board.
