Leap off Chester's Town Hall for Love, Romance & Charity
On the most romantic weekend of the year, Cestrians and visitors alike are being encouraged and assisted by the Army Airborne Forces to take part in a “Lover’s Leap’ zip-wire event. The leap is in aid of The British Heart Foundation and participants will jump together down one of two zip-wires secured from a platform erected by the Cross. The event takes place 10.30am until 3.00pm on Saturday 12th February as part of Chester’s Festival of Romance celebrations. Our courageous couples will zip towards the Cathedral from the Town Hall, enjoying an invigorating adrenaline rush whilst raising vital funds to help the BHF save hearts and lives in the UK.Lynn Brown, Regional Director for the British Heart Foundation said, “We are very grateful to everyone who gets involved in our events and activities to help us raise funds so that we can continue the fight against heart disease. We are delighted that the Chester Festival of Romance and Army Careers are supporting our Lovers’ Leap, helping us to raise awareness and encourage people to get involved in this exciting event”.
The Leap obviously has strong links with matters of the heart but the tandem zip-wires are not just for couples, individuals and groups are all welcome. Upon registration you will receive your “Zip time’ and a fundraising pack so that you can start to sign up your sponsors straight away. Pre-registration is advised in order for sponsorship money to be collected, but people can also apply and take part on the day. There is no cost for the jump, but minimum donations of £3 are welcome. For more information please call 0151 678 2646 or email Ken on fretwellk@bhf.org.uk. All proceeds will be going to the British Heart Foundation, charity number 225971.
The Festival of Romance is being organised on behalf of Chester City Council with support from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and Cheshire & Warrington Tourism Board.
