All was Fayre in Love at the Moathouse
All was “Fayre’ in Love at the Moat House
One of the largest events of Chester’s Festival of Romance was the Romance Fayre held on Sunday 8th at the Moat House Hotel. Billed as a Romance rather than a Wedding Fair, it was able to interest those romantics amongst us, of all ages.
Visitors came from across the North West to be entertained with bands, singer/songwriters, fashion shows and performances, with lots of opportunities to buy romantically themed gifts.
Probably the best “experience’ was Nightsky Ceilings, giving a star studded performance in their “dark room’. On entry visitors were treated to a stunning display of the cosmos, suitable for home ceilings or special events.
Musical tastes were well catered for with a harpist (Oona Linnett), guitarist (Chris Dumigan), music for the fashion show (Dave Summers) and a band at the entrance (Kings of Rhythm).
Lingerie from Marks & Spencer was very tempting, even for those who couldn’t wear it themselves, and Brides from Tina Louise & Poppies Ladiesware gave fabulous fashion shows for weddings, balls and special occasions. Men were catered for too with Attire Men’s Wear, waistcoats to die for!
World of Sugar had some stunning cake creations on display for special occasions, notably a perfectly formed, award winning rose cake. Lots of other cakes and “favours’ too with some really great ideas.
If you wanted something a bit different in the gift department, Lorrie McFaul Designs fairies were ideal. Each one is unique and so pretty – not toys, but easy to see why everyone wanted one!
Thornton’s Chocolates gave out chocolates and added to the big names there. Then if you fancied a drink Monger were on hand to help.
Prize draw winners were:
Valerie Edge of Hope, Wrexham who receives a Portrait Experience Gift Pack to the value of £165 courtesy of Venture Chester, Christine Baker of Chester who receives £100 of shopping vouchers for the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, Kev Eames of Vicars Cross, Chester who receives a ‘pamper day’ for two at the Mill Hotel Health and Beauty Spa, Jane Pendlebury of Tarvin who receives a relaxing facial or body massage to the value of £30 courtesy of Beautiful Hair and Body Co. and Yvonne & Andy Lea won the song composed especially for them. They happen to be expecting a baby on Valentines Day!
