Queen's School A-level results: better than ever
The Queen’s School, Chester, is celebrating A-level results which show a further improvement on the high standards achieved last year by the school’s sixth formers.
In academic subjects 78.9% of all results were an A or B grade, showing a strong 2% improvement on the excellent results achieved by last year’s sixth formers.
Headmistress Catherine Buckley said: ” We are delighted at the girls’ success. No one should be in any doubt about the effort and dedication that students invest in their studies. Our girls, supported by their teachers and their parents, have worked very hard for their success and can be rightly proud of their achievements.
At a time when there are national concerns about the quality of students in science and mathematics, our girls have attained very high grades in all these areas. In mathematics, 91% of students achieved A/B grade, followed closely by 90% in chemistry, then 85% in biology and 80% in physics. This is balanced by excellent results across all subjects.”
Student Angel Wong has a special reason to celebrate. The student from Hong Kong who lived with her Aunt in Queensferry whilst studying at The Queen’s School, scooped a stunning five grade As, in physics, mathematics, further mathematics, chemistry and Chinese. She is planning to continue her studies at Warwick University on the much sought-after MORSE Degree Course (mathematics, operational research, statistics and economics).
