Celebrity Chef: Thomasina Miers' Biography

Thomasina Miers, the winner of BBC 2’s MasterChef 2005, is a cook and food writer who has experience of most aspects of the food industry. Currently she is cheffing with Skye Gyngell (consultant food writer for Vogue) at the renowned Petersham Cafe at Petersham Nurseries. The cooking at Petersham is a good match for Thomasina’s food philosophy: unfussy, locally-sourced ~~- much of it from its own kitchen garden -~~ and organic wherever possible.

Thomasina’s work has taken her around the world, from cheese-making in West Cork, selling bread in Villandry in London, to opening a large restaurant and cocktail bar in Mexico City. She speaks Spanish, French and Portuguese and is an active member of the Slow Food movement.

Thomasina recently co-edited SOUP KITCHEN, a sumptuous collection of soup recipes from leading chefs including Delia Smith, Ken Hom, Tom Conran, Gary Rhodes, Raymond Blanc, Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and Nigella Lawson. Proceeds from sales of the book are being donated to homeless charities.
